I will sign Flavors of Kentucky at Horse Cave BookFest on Saturday

I will be signing copies of Flavors of Kentucky at the Horse Cave BookFest on Saturday. Two Bears and a Dog Books and The Bookstore Horse Cave will host the first annual Horse Cave BookFest from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST Saturday,  June 30.   The Horse Cave BookFest will be held in the historic downtown cultural district at 112 East Main Street.

More than 100 authors are scheduled to attend, signing copies of their latest books, along with exhibit booths of Kentucky publishers and various booksellers.  There will also be an outdoor exhibit of the Hart County Barn Quilts.

Alecia Whitaker, author of  The Queen of Kentucky, will sign copies of her book and also conduct an author reading and discussion.  Whitaker grew up on a small farm in Cynthiana.  She is an actress and writer and lives in New York with her husband and son.  Alecia has performed in the

New York City Fringe Festival and is a visiting creative writing teacher and ambassador for The Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts.

Also  attending will be national  author James Renner.  James’ first mystery The Man From Primrose Lane, just released in March, has already been named one of Publisher Weekly’s top 10 mysteries and thrillers of the season.  James is the author of two books of non-fiction, that will also be available at the BookFest.  His work has been featured in

Best American Crime Reporting and Best Creative Nonfiction.  James will also conduct a reading and discussion of his book.

Other Kentucky authors will be doing readings throughout the day, including everyone’s favorite, Dr. Lynwood Montell, who will be sharing tales from his favorite books.   Jim McGarrah,  author and a Kentucky Humanities Council Featured Speaker, will be conducting a session on the craft of writing and books.

Also while in Horse Cave, you can visit the  New Harmonies, Music on Main Street, a traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian Institute, now on display at the American Cave Museum. This is also the last weekend to experience the highly entertaining production of Cotton Patch Gospel at the Kentucky Repertory Theatre. Performances are at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
